The 2024 South Central Regional was held at Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas, from September 4th to 8th. Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch is a comprehensive shooting facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area that offers clay shooting year-round for shooters of all levels, from corporate beginners and recreational weekend shooters to high-level competitors and more. This week, Defender hosted one of the largest NSCA Regionals in history, attracting just shy of a thousand participants from across the country. Originally a cattle ranch, Defender now throws millions of clay targets annually. Travis Mears and his skilled team worked diligently and prepared months in advance to ensure the success of this major competition.
The tournament featured multiple events, requiring various course layouts, targets to set, and staff to manage the shoot. The Main Event was divided across three courses: the Caesar Guerini (66 targets), the Fabarm (66 targets), and the Syren (68 targets). Combined, these courses made up the 200-target Main Event. While the targets were set to be relatively straightforward, with minimal distance and speed, the windy conditions throughout the week made some targets challenging and prone to being missed.
Brandon Powell won the Main Event with a score of 196/200, missing only 4 targets across the three courses from Friday through Sunday. Turner Parcell of South Carolina was the Runner-Up with an impressive 194/200, and Tom Seay from Tennessee secured Third place with 191/200.
Karen Miles won the Ladies' Category in the Main Event with a score of 182/200; Savanna Barks was the Runner-Up with 181/200, and Ashley Little finished Third with 180/200.
In the 200-Target FITASC Grand Slam, Gebben Miles took first place with a score of 179/200, Bill McGuire was the Runner-Up with 178/200, and Trevor Jensen also shot 178/200 to claim Third place.
In the Ladies' Division, Karen Miles achieved a decisive victory in FITASC, winning by 18 targets! Karen was the HOA (High Overall) with a score of 174/200; Desirae Edmunds was the Runner-Up with 156/200, and Grace Choe finished Third with 155/200. The 2025 South Central Regional will be hosted at Covey Rise in Louisiana from September 10th to 14th.
