User Guides

This page covers how every core user feature works, from signing up and linking your shooter profile to reading event progression charts and using forums on mobile.

Quick Start

  1. Create an account on Sign up.
  2. Search and link your shooter profile during signup (recommended for profile trust and posting privileges).
  3. Log in from Log in.
  4. Use the home page to track shells, answer the poll, and open tournament + news content.
  5. Use Shooter Search or Multiple Shooter Comparison for deeper analysis.

Account Setup

Sign up flow

  1. Enter username, first name, last name, email, state, and password.
  2. In Find yourself, search your name and click the correct result to link your shooter profile.
  3. If you pick the wrong person, use the x unlink button and search again.
  4. Accept terms and submit registration.

Common account messages

  • Email already exists: use Log in or reset password.
  • Username may be taken: choose another username and retry.
  • Email confirmation: if required, confirm via email before using all features.

Home Dashboard

Shells Added By Members

Displays community shell totals. This value updates as users submit shell counts.

Shell Tracker

  • Choose one of the shell-count buttons (25, 50, 100, 250, 500).
  • You must be logged in to submit shell counts.
  • If daily submit limit is reached, you will see a daily-limit message.

Shotgunner Poll

  • Select one option to vote.
  • After voting, results are shown with vote totals and bars.
  • Daily vote limits may apply depending on backend rules.

Tournament cards and recaps

The home feed surfaces featured event cards and recap links. Clicking shooter names and entries routes to deeper profile/tournament views.

Forums

Forum navigation

  • Open Forums for home feed (all posts).
  • Use left rail categories to jump into specific forum channels.
  • Use right rail for popular forums/posts.

Thread view

  • Open any post title to read full thread content and replies.
  • Author menus may include quick links to shooter profile and progression.

Posting actions

Post/reply/like controls may be login-gated or disabled depending on your account and current feature rollout state.

News

  • Open News to browse article cards with snippet + date.
  • Use pagination controls for older pages.
  • Click any article card to read full story details.

Multi-Shooter Comparison

  • Open Multiple Shooter Comparison.
  • Search and add shooters to compare trends.
  • Select discipline and year range to regenerate the comparison chart.
  • Remove shooters from the compare list to declutter the chart.

Shooter Profile & Charts

Profile hero

  • Shows shooter name, class, and quick actions (back/share).

Tournament panel

  • Pick a tournament from the dropdown.
  • Review event rows (score, average, change).
  • Open event detail chart modal by selecting an event row.

Progression by discipline

  • Includes Sporting, FITASC, 5-Stand, and Super Sporting charts.
  • Use Trend line toggle and Yearly breakdown for year-over-year detail.
  • Use the expand icon to open a larger chart view for easier reading on small screens.

Event Progression By Year

  • Select an event type and year.
  • Chart loads per-event result progression for that year.
  • Hover/tap points to see exact average and broke/shot values.

College Recruiting

  • Open College Recruiting.
  • Filter by class year and gender.
  • Open a profile card to view full recruit details in a modal.
  • Use contact links for recruiting-specific inquiries.

Mobile Navigation

  • Tap the menu icon in the top header to open the mobile drawer.
  • Use quick links for Forums, News, Shooter Search, and Recruiting.
  • If signed in, account status and logout appear inside the drawer.
  • Close with the X button, tapping outside, or Escape key.

Troubleshooting

"Log in to track shells"

Sign in first, then retry shell tracker submit.

"Daily shell limit reached"

You hit the day limit for shell submissions. Try again the next day.

"Search failed" or no results

  • Retry with broader name text (last name only often works best).
  • Confirm your network connection and session status.

Signup fails with username warning

Pick a different username and retry registration.
