2023 South Central Regional

The 2023 South Central Regional was hosted at Covey Rise Lodge in Husser, Louisiana from September 12th - 17th. A welcoming southern hospitality and charm was the atmosphere this hunting preserve and clay shooting venue presented its guests with. A beautiful newly finished lodge next to the clubhouse area was a great space for shooters to gather before and after events as they enjoyed the rural Louisiana landscape where there was plenty of food and vendor options. Covey Rise utilized their acreage by spreading their events a large distance apart from one another and setting targets for each event in many different places on their property. Target presentations in nearly every event throughout the week were tough and very hard with multiple combinations of extreme speed, distance, and variation in angle. On Saturday night there was a banquet held by the event host that was largely attended with a plethora of tasty food options and much shooter camaraderie. Due to the difficult target setting in the main event, nearly all scores were rather low than what is usually posted at a tour stop event. However, there was high praise across the field from competitors of all ability levels that enjoyed the courses. Todd Hitch of Tennessee prevailed on the final day with a solid score of 94/100 on the Winchester Course to put him at a combined 186/200 for the first place HOA win and South Central Regional Championship title which was his second regional win of the 2023 year. Joseph Fanizzi won Runner Up with a 182/200 and Brandon Powell won third after winning the shoot off against fellow competitor Zachary Kienbaum following their 180/200 tie. Shelby Moon and Karen Miles tied for ladies first place in the Main Event after shooting the same two scores on each of the courses and arriving at a combined 172/200 at the end of the tournament. After their shoot off, Shelby was victorious winning ladies HOA and Karen was Runner Up. Savanna Barks won ladies third with a 165/200. The 2024 South Central Regional will be held at Defender Outdoors in Fort Worth, Texas from September 4th - 8th. See you in the Lone Star State!
