The 2024 Gator Cup was held at Backwoods Quail Club in Georgetown, South Carolina from March 12th - 17th. The Gator Cup, started by the Fanizzi Family in Florida back in 2015, is now in its second year at Backwoods in South Carolina. Rick Hemingway and his top-notch crew have done a great job of running this big blast the last few years with shooters attending from across the country and world. Backwoods Quail Club is a venue that is very familiar with hosting big tournaments. Backwoods has held multiple U.S. Open's, Southeast Regionals, and state shoots throughout the years, and now the Gator Cup every March.
Backwoods Quail Club is a large property that has many densely wooded areas with cover, cut outs in the trees, and open fields. This is a perfect venue for the best target setters in the southeast to let loose and present the shooters with a great time. Something else you can always count on at the Gator Cup is fun evening banquets with excellent food, atmosphere, and camaraderie.
When it was all said and done, Brandon Powell won the Main Event with a 190/200, Mike Haas was Runner Up with a 188/200, and Connor Daniel was Third with 184/200. In the Ladies Division, Madison Sharpe won High Overall with a 167/200, Desirae Edmunds was Runner Up, and Gianna Santo was Third. In the FITASC, Nicolas Berry shot a phenomenal 94/100 on a very tough layout that included a fire truck that had an 80-foot tower on it! Nicolas Berry won High Overall in the FITASC and Madison Sharpe won the Ladies FITASC by a remarkable 10 targets shooting an impressive 89/100. That does it for the 2024 Gator Cup, see ya later alligator.
