Competitive Index measures a score against the highest Open score recorded in that exact event:shooter's score ÷ highest Open score × 100For example, a 70 when the highest Open score is 80 produces an 87.50% Competitive Index. Yearly percentages combine indexed events only within the same discipline.
Like golf, no two courses or target presentations are exactly the same. A 70/100 on one course may represent a very different performance than a 70/100 on another. Competitive Index adds that missing course context, making results from different shoots more meaningful to compare.
American Shotgunner was the first website to introduce Competitive Index for sporting-clays shooter profiles and is currently the only website using it.
